道路文字作為公共設施中的一環，其識認性與施作方式，攸關大眾行的安全，故有其檢驗和分析字體設計功用必要性。從研究中發現，臺灣道路文字歷史，源自於聯合國《1968年11月8日道路標誌與號誌公約》；經過立法制定法源後，奠定目前文字的使用形式與規則。但實際上，臺灣交通號誌法令對道路文字規範，並不足以涵蓋道路相關表示文字的使用，導致施工廠商在施作時，多憑主觀意識書寫，造成字體樣式、美感度均無標準，自成一格的案例屢見不鮮。研究發現，都市道路文字的使用，對內能強化公眾安全及移動便捷性，對外可向國際樹立公共設施典範，是公共政策上的重要作為。良好的規劃不僅能推升臺灣道路的國際形象力，間接促進了族群共融和提高社會參與。臺灣為亞洲唯一使用繁體中文的國家，一脈相承下，讓我們能充分領受豐厚的東方文化資產，同時連接了民族精神的底氣。道路字體是語言和符號的綜合，其字形、色相、易讀性、識認性、安全性，都是形成量化分析時，問題構面的因素。本研究探討道路字體的設計的方法，進而推導出新字體創作，期望能為道路文字的示範、商業字型發展帶來價值。結論如下：
1.當道路文字書寫具備反透視要素時，能提高文字的識認性與用路安全性。
2.研究發現文字使用黃、白、紅等色，會與瀝青路面產生色相上的反差，且觀看距離與誘目性效果均佳。
3.道路文字所使用新式防滑材料，能降低因天雨事故的發生率，成效良好。
4.研究發現，鄰近國家的字體設計師，對於字型開發的共通點，在於展現文化的象徵感與沿襲民族語系的特性。
5.「路字明體」屬於地面觀看的字種，以黑體字形構成，因觀看角度會使橫畫變細，故歸類於明體字型。整體具書法底蘊，為骨架瘦高的形式。
6.導入平面與包裝應用，體現「路字明體」字型創用成果，擴大運用範圍。

For thousands of years, the road is the media that connect the people and land. In urban planning, safe and smooth traffic infrastructure would guarantee pedestrians’ safety and benefit the social economic activity and urban development. The font text of the road construction silently plays an important role in regional guidance, reroute the traffic, maintenance, and safety reminders. The traffic words are silent traffic controller. The words written on the road have the long and thin features of the traditional Chinese. However, there is a gap between our user behavior and recognition such as the legibility of variant Chinese character. As for what part they need our attention and understanding regard of the design is the research question of the study. Chinese character as one of the media carrying the historical cultural heritage, we need to follow the context and learn how to look at the cultural background. What style can be reflected from history will be explained in the study. The character code is the combination of language and semantic inside. And the identification, safety, and image are the important outfits of the characters. The two sides working together would create prosperity and cooperation among words and human wisdom. It will benefit group integration, enhance traffic safety and build up the vigorous impression. From the study of the research background to the analysis and the creation, the past and future of the road texts will be analyzed in the following perspectives.
1.Analyze the history of the road texts, discover and organize relevant literature.
2.Consider the identification and safety of the road application of Traditional Chinese.
3.Understand the application of the road color tone and provide explanations based on the conclusion.
4.The paint used for the road text is related to safety. This study will introduce the paint type that is resistant to slip.
5.Learn the experience and reflection from the road font designer in Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong, and integrate them into the concept of innovative font design.
6.Design the innovative road font that has a cultural feature and applies appropriate solid perspective to balance the identification.
7.Apply business design and develop the Road Text Ming font as the innovative achievement and leverage the marginal effect.
