In recent years, the advancement of technology has brought changes to the field of art. As a symbol of Chinese culture, calligraphy has gone beyond tradition, adding variety to the art form. This also facilitates the development of the tourism industry, turning Taiwan into an international place, which attracts lots of tourists and new immigrants. With the introduction of western festivals, Taiwanese festivals have become less popular among the new generation of locals. Meanwhile, thanks to the promotion by the Tourism Bureau, we can see foreigners joining the traditional festivals. Participating in local festivals has been regarded as one way to explore Taiwan.

Through literature review and case studies, this project examines Chinese calligraphy and its traditional and modern forms, the origin and principles of Hanzi, and the five major festivals proposed by the Tourism Bureau, namely Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Ghost Festival, and Moon Festival. The case studies of Chinese calligraphy and Hanzi serve as reference for the creation process.

In this project, integrating Chinese calligraphy and festivals in Taiwan, a series of 10 posters is created to present classical Chinese poems and modern Taiwanese proverbs. It is hoped that tourists and new immigrants in Taiwan could feel the atmosphere as presented in the artwork, see the beauty of Chinese calligraphy, and learn more about stories of Taiwanese festivals.
